This competency standard unit covers the explosion-protection aspects of overhauling & repairing explosion-protected equipment & the activities required of a responsible person.

This competency is required to be held by the responsible person who signs off on work conducted by a recognised service facility.

The course develops the ability of the student, enabling them to:

  • Establish and document the level of work required
  • Arrange for and manage the conduct of the overhaul/repair work to be carried out
  • Verify compliance of the overhauled/repaired equipment

Minimum 4 hours

Description

The LVR-CPR course covers the nationally recognised competencies that an electrical worker or an Electrical Safety Observer is required to hold under legislation.

LVR encompasses the Risk Assessment of an electrical workplace; contents of a Low Voltage Rescue Kit; inspection, testing and safe use of the kits contents; procedures and methods for the safe rescue of persons involved in electrical incidents; and the completion of incident reports.

The CPR component provides a student with the confidence, knowledge and practical skills to effectively provide CPR to a casualty.

The course additionally provides some basic information on first aid treatment, for injuries commonly experienced as a result of electrical incidents.
